Vintage French Tart Tins

IMG_3613

Some of my favorite things for my next Vintage Mix Monday: Vintage French tart tins, vintage brooches & other beautiful baubles & vintage Italian lace doilies!

All together!

Oh, fabulous!

SWOON!!!

I may try incorporating some of the vintage bling into the tart tins, then punching a small hole in them and hanging them as Christmas ornaments.

What do you think?

Don’t the tins look like Christmas ornaments?

And I’ll be adding some of these dainty little French goodies to my upcoming European Vintage Etsy giveaway, too! Stay tuned for more details on that!

Lana’s Twelve Tags of Christmas: #2

IMG_3674

I have loved, when I’ve been able to squeeze in the time, making these little Twelve Tags of Christmas. Although, for the life of me, I couldn’t get this particular one to photograph well—I PROMISE it is far more beautiful in person!

I love to craft when Tom, the kids & I are all together watching Dr. Who or Once Upon a Time. I find it extremely relaxing. Unfortunately, during the past couple of weeks, we haven’t had any time to just hang out together.

We’ve been gone to North Carolina and are now in the middle of a gazillion activities, including prep for the upcoming Nutcracker and SciQuest FLL robotics competitions—so I apologize profusely for my absence/sporadic posting!

I hope that y’all have had a fabulous couple of weeks and are as eager to take a break on Thanksgiving as we are. Because we’ve traveled soooooo much this year, we’re going to try to actually stay home and have an extremely low-key holiday season for Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Tom, especially, after being in Afghanistan for a year, then coming home only to travel extensively for the past 12 months, is looking forward to not traveling or hosting anyone, just small and simple days of gratitude and pure celebration for Thanksgiving & Christmas! I can hardly wait!

Vibrant Velvet Pumpkins in a Vintage Dough Bowl

IMG_0301

While I’ve loved all of my white/pale autumnal décor, I have not forgotten the dazzlingly vibrant fall colors.

Richly regal. Warm & Inviting. Just plain YUMMY colors!

I will definitely share this with my Tablescape Thursday friends because, even those these shots are devoid of plates, etc., the idea of something as simple as a colorful tablecloth & a dough bowl of pumpkins as a centerpiece can still make for a visual feast at dinner time—tablescape heaven!

Vintage Italian Chandelier

IMG_3438

I absolutely fell in love with this vintage Italian chandelier when we lived in Italy. We found it on one of our shopping trips to the famous Arezzo antique market!

It’s perfect for my Vintage Mix Monday feature!

I might never have visited the A-MAZ-ING Arezzo (I know I sound hyperbolic…but it’s TRUE!) had it not been for the fact that my eldest was studying with the Italian/Opera program via Oberlin Conservatory in Arezzo.

We felt “lost in time” in the historical little city and went back again!

I swear, I could almost smell the ancient everywhere, and I could certainly see the history in all of the glorious architecture.

I just put this particular piece up in my Etsy shop in time for holiday shopping, along with some new art photographs in black & white & sepia.

I am particularly sad to see this piece go, but I trust that the person who finds it will love it as much as I do.

I have other photos of the actual antique booth, right in the middle of the famous Piazza Grande in Arezzo, where I purchased it. I’ll share those soon!

(An Early) Vintage Mix Monday: French Enamel Coffeepot & Italian Tablecloth

IMG_0379

Sometimes I still can’t believe that I was so blessed to be able to live in Italy and go on buying trips there, and in Paris and Brussels, too! The items I bought there were all pieces I fell in love with. And, while I sell some in my Etsy shop, everything I purchased was something that I wanted for my own home.

Like this gorgeous French enamel coffeepot. The smaller version of this piece is going in the room of my middle daughter, Kate-Elizabeth; Soon I’ll show you her new/old Shabby/Chic/French Country/Cottage bedroom re-do. That design style convergence was her choice and I love that she was able to express herself and make choices.

The gorgeous Italian tablecloth here is so dear to my heart. Luckily, I have one very similar to it or I wouldn’t be able to part with it as I’m going to share it in a future Christmas giveaway for my little shoppe! (please stay tuned for details!)

I know I’m a little bit early for Vintage Mix Monday…but I’m about to have one of those insane weeks and wanted to go ahead and post! I hope you don’t mind!

IMG_0323

I’m going to be sharing this with my friends at Tablescape Thursday because I know they will love the whole “vintage feel” of the table here, alfresco-style.

Ode to Carolyne Roehm

IMG_3290

When I saw these gorgeous autumnally-hued roses, I knew just what I had to do—an Ode to Carolyne Roehm!

Oh, Carolyne—how you have inspired me with your love of blue & white & flower arranging!

The crispness of the contrast between the blue & white.

The tangy visual zing of those vibrant orange roses.

Wowza!
